Fergus Falls is the place this weekend – Feb. 3-5 – for families looking for a fun-filled weekend with events for everyone.
The 2017 Frostbite Festival, presented by the Fergus Falls Area Chamber of Commerce, begins Friday and runs through Sunday featuring activities for the whole family.
Friday’s events begin at 1:30 with an inter-faith gathering at Life Church. Families can enjoy outdoor skating beginning at 3:30, opening swimming at Kennedy Pool, and live music in the evening at four different locations through 1 a.m.
Saturday’s events begin with the same inter-faith gathering at 8:45 a.m. then Build-Con, at the Westridge Mall followed by hockey, basketball, dart and broomball tournaments through the city. A frozen scavenger hunt sponsored by the Otter Tail County Historical Society begins at 10 a.m. with an indoor farmer’s market and several events for children starting at the same time in the mall. A family bike ride billed as “Frostbike Ride” begins at city hall at 2 p.m. There will also be outdoor skating opportunities and at 2:30 p.m. at the Northern Aire Lanes, the Chamber’s “Battle of the Business” bowling event will be conducted.
Families can begin Sunday with a Kiwanis pancake breakfast at the YMCA starting at 8 a.m. A Squirt hockey tournament begins at 9 a.m. followed by the 38th annual Sertoma ice fishing derby and raffle on Pebble Lake beginning at 1 p.m.
